A few weeks ago our dog Sassy strolled around the corner and we noticed a huge growth on her neck. She is a rather fluffy dog this time of the year, with her winter coat and all, but this was highly unnatural. We quickly scheduled an appointment with the vet, and were seen the next day.
They tried to drain the growth, only to find that it was a solid mass. He said it was cancerous, and that it will most likely return in other locations, but this needed to be removed ASAP.
We were worked into the schedule and her tumor was removed. It was very large, and wedged underneath her muscles. Luckily it was removed in one complete piece.
The entire surgery only took about 30 minutes. Ashley and I had quite a bit of fun transporting her to and from the truck. It took her several days to feel comfortable enough to move around. Now, she is doing pretty darn good. It has been challenging to keep her from scratching at it or rubbing it against things. We have resorted to putting her in T-shirts to keep her from reopening her stitches. She looks hilarious, I can only imagine what the neighbors must think of us. Oh, well.

So glad they were able to remove the tumor. She looks pretty adorable in that t-shirt.
