The Tooth Fairy is most forgetful at our house...she is always happy to snuggle into her bed at night, and as the sunlight warms her in the morning....she realizes that she slept through the most prime opportunity to take care of business....she will then fly out of her warm bed....scamper throughout her tooth fairy home....looking for some tooth fairy cash....cautiously race up the stairs....narrowly avoiding the creaky step....she will then, quietly press open the bedroom door...peer into the bedroom, looking for any signs of movement coming from the anticipating toothless child....attempt to hold her breath as she enters the lair....quickly step through the room as her knees pop and her ankles crack....drop to the floor when the toothless child rolls over....then, continue her plight commando style....flinging the precious money near the pillow of the toothless child...just in time to have the toothless child roll over....wide awake....realizing that the Tooth Fairy should have made a pit stop there...and the Tooth Fairy is glad that she has been working out, since the 10 pounds she just lost makes it just barely possible to squeeze under the toothless child's bed....as the toothless child races down the stairs, screaming "Look what the Tooth Fairy left me!"...the Tooth Fairy squeezes out from under the bed....grabs some dirty laundry from off the floor....and begins her day.
*Moms are creative, like the time we got to church, and for some odd reason, Nate's shirt was missing 3 buttons down the front and one on the sleeve. (Why this wasn't pointed out prior to arriving at church, still baffles me) But being the creative mom I am, we made our way to the library and quick thinking, grabbed the stapler, and stapled the shirt up. His great little tie covered up the staples, and everyone was happy.
*Celebrity Status....everyone wants you. They follow you around the house, hang outside the bathroom door calling your name, stand outside the shower waiting for you to get out, sit right next to you when you are on the phone, call 3 times in one week because they need you to bring something to school that they forgot (soccer shoes, homework, lunch-that kind of stuff), tell their teachers that you can make all the costumes for the play, you will be there for the field trip (even though you have something else planned), and you will make 4 dozen cupcakes for tomorrow's party. Yes, celebrity status is one of my most favorite things about being a mom, because that means my family loves me.
*Moms have Super-Hero powers....some of them include the Power of Finding Lost Things (this is my kids and hubby's favorite mom power)...glasses, homework, shoes....ask the all-knowing Super-Mom, she knows! Just ask Ashley...she lost her wallet a few weeks ago, and was searching for days, finally she asked her Super-Mom, and I told her not to worry, 'I can smell money'. I walked into her room, and sniffed...walked to the closet and pulled out her wallet...she was amazed. (One day she too will have these powers, I know she is just thrilled to pieces!) Other mom smell powers, include the ability to know when things 'smell fishy' or when 'things just don't smell right'. And, Super Eyesight (also known as 'Eyes in the Back of Your Head').
I have to say that there is nothing in this world more wonderful than being a mom! Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!
