ha ha ha! what a great video to have! i know EXACTLY how it feels to get a bat out of your house! the sweating, adrenaline and nastiness and all.

my friend and i were getting ready for bed at a house i lived in after i graduated high school. my friend crashed on the couch because it was late and i couldn't sleep. from the light of the tv in the dark i saw a black ball in the crease of the ceiling and the wall. i was like- what the heck is that? so i took a closer look and lo and behold it was a chubby bat! eek! i woke my friend up and we put on my dad's old helmets on and got a broom to knock it out... or kill it, whatever came first.

for some reason, she was nominated first to "kill" the bat and she went to swing at it and totally whimped out and said she couldn't do it. i was like- gimmie that broom you pansy! i was all ready to hit the bat and as my swing came around i went numb and broke into a sweat for fear of what was going to happen, and couldn't do it. i then realized how GROSS that little critter was! and did i really want bat guts smooshed all over the wall? or have it bite me with it's fangs? i finally built up enough guts and smacked it! and all i did was startle it. man, they have a wide wing span... it was HUGE! so it was flying around the house and it flew into another room that we had run into. and my stupid friend left me and shut me in there alone with this creepy rodent and my only defense weapon was a pillow. it was flying circles at eye level and i kept ducking and missing it with my huge pillow. so finally, i just threw the pillow directly at the bat and it fell to the floor with it's wing hanging out from underneath it. EWW! i then found my first batteling weapon... the broom... and started hitting the bat under the pillow with the broom a crazy number of times with all my might... screaming and growling my head off in complete disgust.

i found an old plastic box i scooped it's limp black body into it. we quickly took a picture (need to find that picture) for a reminder of that horrifying night and then quickly set it out on the deck. the next morning it was gone.

i don't like those things i decided! hooray for getting rid of yours!
